Friesch Dagblad

The daily newspaper ‘Friesch Dagblad’ is the only independent, Christian regional paper in the Netherlands. The paper holds an unique position: the paper is owned by the association of readers, has its own press and their editorial functions independently.

‘Het Friesch Dagblad’ appeared in 1903, as a paper of the reformed Anti-revolutionaries. In the eighties the paper shared the thought that leaded to the political Dutch party called the CDA. Any how ‘Het Friesch Dagblad’ isn’t a paper of a political party neither a church paper; she is ‘free from church and state’.

The editorial policy is funded on Christian social values like respect for integrity of a person, social connection in society, responsibility of the individual and justice in social and economic relations.

An important characteristic of ‘Het Friesch Dagblad’ is the attention for subjects that are discussed broadly in series of articles, like the serie on ‘heimwee naar de ARP?’, as a result of the huge historical attention for the ‘Anti-Revolutionare Partij’ (Dutch political party), as it shows in books, congresses and symposia.
